Intel Media (INTC -1%), the unit tasked with creating a Web-based TV service, is looking to boost its headcount to 300 over the near-term, and perhaps 400 within 6 months. The division, reported in the past to be "run like a startup in stealth mode," is looking for engineers, as well as an "audience representative" who "must be weird." Separately, Intel has reached a deal with private Hillcrest Labs to integrate Hillcrest's motion control tech in the reference platform for the set-tops that will power its TV service.

If they could create a TV that did away with the wires...I know there are wireless HDMI solutions out there, but nothing too elegant. Content improvements would just be a bonus at that point...for me at least.

Don't hold your breath on this one. The V.P. Engineering (hired a few months ago from Microsoft) resigned this week.
