At its annual GPU tech conference, Nvidia (NVDA -0.9%) has: 1) Introduced its own enterprise server for its GRID graphics virtualization platform (allows remote access to GPU resources). 8-16 GPUs are supported, and pricing starts at $24.9K (software licenses are extra). A GRID cloud gaming system was launched in January. 2) Announced Dell, H-P, and IBM are selling GRID servers, and that virtualization leaders VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix are supporting the platform. Both of Jen's presentations were very informative, and compelling.
It appears that Nvidia is well positioned and well ahead of everybody with GRID. The impressive list of partners on board also bodes very well for the future. It's too bad that the PPS does not reflect all the positives.
