Cisco (CSCO) is downgraded to Sell at FBR Capital, which says the company will find it difficult to offset weakening router and switching demand. Negative tech trends "could significantly blur the lines between routers, switches, AND servers." FBR throws in a downgrade of Juniper Networks (JNPR) as well. Both are down more than 1% premarket.

Ready your ship, Load CSCO on board, lock in your 2.6% yield , prepare for div. increases and set sail for an island called "long term gains."

I also think that this could be an opportunity to initiate or increase a position in CSCO for the long term Div Growth investor. My avg cost is @ 19.01. This will also help to get a few more shares with the upcoming dividend reinvestment.

I agree with those expecting a dividend increase in the next 6 months or less and can't see business falling off a cliff here. I use covered calls and enjoy a slow steady climb and a yield good enough to provide downside protection.

Are you referring to a large increase in Price per share, or referring to $CSCO becoming a nice dividend growth stock for an income seeking portfolio ?

Cisco has been adding layers and layers of network infrastructure in their customers data centers for years. More ports, more ports, more ports. As other data center costs have gone down the Cisco spend is disproportionate. Customers are dissatisfied and they have begun moving to lower cost solutions.
