Zynga (ZNGA -0.3%) hires Lazard analyst Atul Bagga to be its new VP of finance. Bagga, who reports to CFO Mark Vranesh, launched coverage on Zynga with a Buy and $12 PT shortly after its IPO, and has made plenty of favorable comments about the company since.

Same day they lose their high-powered head of technology. "Zynga CIO Debra Chrapaty, who has also done high-ranking stints at other big companies such as Cisco and Microsoft, has been named CEO of enterprise cloud storage company Nirvanix." http://dthin.gs/WRPQ3W

A CIO is not a head of technology. The CIO leads decisions for IT infrastructure, internal aps, and telephony/hardware. It has nothing to do with product development/design.

Yes you are right the Chief Information Officer is not typically the head of product development. But Chrapaty wasn't the person responsible for email, she played a crucial role in ZNGA's overall tech planning and cloud strategy: "Chrapaty led Zynga’s build out of its infrastructure. While there, Zynga became AWS largest customer before she directed the build out of the company’s own gaming cloud." (http://tcrn.ch/ZqtGpo) This is being characterized as another major executive loss for ZNGA (http://bit.ly/11H6Pd3) whatever terminology you want to apply to her former role.

    Make-believe interview:
Bagga: I'm looking for a job.
Pincus: Our stock is trading at $3.40, but do you still think it is worth $12 per share?
    Bagga: Oh yeah, definitely!
    Pincus: You're hired!
