Lockheed Martin's (LMT +0.3%) F-35 fighter, long beset with technical and budget issues, costs 50% less to make now than five years ago and will be transformative for the aerospace industry, says the former Navy test pilot who manages the F-35 program. Additional cost-cutting should help ensure the program's success, he notes.

    Prediction...

Right now, the world loves drones and imagines a world without piloted war planes.

Something will happen that will cause us to want and need planes such as the F-35.

LMT will be highly regarded again.

You will wish you had bought stock down here if you didn't do so.

I took advantage of the sequester sell-off and got my shares at $90.

    We'll see how it goes.

Last night, Guy Adami highlighted this stock on FastMoney.

    I like Mr. Adami.

Just what we need, a new multi-billion cold war fighter, hugely over budget, under performance on specs, way behind schedule, which can't fly in clouds-jeez-somehow, we need to stop looking at these projects as a source of jobs but good luck w/that-I like the idea, currently in petition status, to require the boys and girls in Congress to wear the logos of their corporate sponsors, similar to race car drivers.

Lockheed Martin should not have a long term interest in building an inferior jet fighter which is astronomically overcost. In that case, the profits will come at a great price by devaluing the company's reputation and potentially tainting future weapons systems. LMT's credibility is on the line here and the Pentagon's for that matter.
