There's a dividend hike in the mREIT sector with MFA Financial (MFA) raising its quarterly payout to $0.22 from $0.20 last quarter. The hybrid-REIT's investments in non-agency MBS paid off with a big jump in book value last year carrying over into 2013.

This was as expected - still waiting for the 2012 adjustment. The 10% hike for Q.1 2013 is still a nice confirmation of MFA as en excellent investment.

What am I missing here? This says that the next dividends are to be at .22/share. Yet the very MFA Financial website is showing that the next dividend to be paid in April will be .50/share.

The $0.50 dividend is a special to make up for dividends that should have paid out in 2011-12 (they changed the way they were figuring the money available to pay out)...the $0.22 one (which is $0.02 higher than the last regular dividend) is the regular, quarterly dividend. The ex-dividend date for the special has already passed.
