The company needs to show how quickly it can clean up such a mess while showing minimal environmental damage.

This will practically be a non-event if the company is prepared for such events.

True. It only reveals the potential hubris and inherent imperfection of mans' best - efforts, (possibly, time will tell with more details).

long: XOM - hopefully they'll accept their responsibility rather than legal loopholes and the usual dose of political and economic legerdemain to the people and environment injured; what do you think are the realistic chances in America today???

I was considering investing in XOM and now I won't. I'll stick with Total that improves safety each and every year and fixes their problems immediately and without the jibber jabber of the likes of RDS and CVX.

USA doesn't rejoice in a major left-wing news outlet. It has a large number of shock - horror ones though.
