TD Ameritrade (AMTD) founder Joe Ricketts says he will retire next month, fresh off helping the board nix an acquisition of E-Trade (ETFC +1.1%). The company says Todd Ricketts - currently a director with the Chicago Cubs - will take over his father's position. Shares of AMTD are up 2.5% on the news.

    Drive to the west side of Omaha, past the Oriental trading Co. and Kellog's cereal factory, and then to the headquarters of Ameritrade and tell Mr. Ricketts bye. Like GrandFather, like dad, to son. Blah.
