Nuance (NUAN) +9% AH on news Carl Icahn has amassed a 9.3% stake. Is Icahn looking to make an activist push? Nuance's acquisition-fueled growth strategy has received some criticism over the years.

Lots of competition in this space going forward...Nuan is not the only beneficiary. Strange choice for Icahn, but it was passive and maybe a trade from the selloff lows.

If what you say is true, then why would Carl wait for the stock to pop 8.3% before initiating a position? No, I disagree. Look at a chart.

I've been watching NUAN for some time now and began to notice the INcrease in volume, in earnest, began back on March 20th...could have begun [for Carl] as far back as March 3rd...that's where accumulation began from the absolute low ($18) on March 1st.

    Given 'em hell, Carl!

Hey, if you think Nuan has significant upside, knock yourself out. I think they have plenty of competition from Goog and a number of startups that will introduce superior nlp/vr technology. Nuan has gotten a recent sell rating from others - perhaps Carl's trades are to buy all of Cramer's sells.

Buying Cramer's sells and selling his buys is a pretty decent strategy actually. But I agree that Icahn is off his rocker with this one. This was a great play a while ago. Like apple it's race is run, it's all margin compression and a steady march towards open sourced code vaults from here.

Take a look at a 5yr chart of IEP, esp the last 3 months...Icahn sure attracts attention. Those who bought at 90 are experiencing a headache.

...but notice too that "IEP" was up $1.70 (3.12%) on 32% MORE than normal daily volume.

Coincidence? We'll just have to wait and see...

Been long NUAN since the earnings miss .....bought at 4 different levels ......all under 19.....I'm not a genius by any means...but noticed with a one day exception...that it held serve....and was steady...the clincher was a three day stretch where...call/put volume was 6 to 1 and I mean heavy ...12000 calls on one day vs 1800 puts...almost all in the Apr/May 19 to 21 strikes....might had been Carl...as he amassed a huge call position in NFLX...before buying the actual stock and going public.....good luck to all who were long before the close!!
