Solar stocks (TAN -6.1%) are getting beat up, led by a steep 12% decline in GTAT Advanced Technologies (GTAT) and a disaster at JinkoSolar (JKS -23.3%). Weak demand is also creating pricing pressure throughout the industry. Decliners: STP -8.7%, TSL -7.7%, LDK -7%, JASO -8%.

    Jinko - with sentiment so heavily negative, the last thing the solar sector needs is an environmental issue. And for Jinko, in addition to the environmental cost, they will have to bring in a third party to turn their wafers / into cells in a 'tolling' arrangement - that will also hit margins .
