US Airways (LCC) says its the first carrier to receive FAA certification for new avionics which fit into all four applications of the agency's NextGen program. It's been well-documented that many of the electronics forced to be shut off by customers during takeoff are more sophisticated than the electrical components in the cockpit. The FAA's NextGen airspace redesign program aims to bring avionics up to speed.
