While the DOJ and Sprint (S) oppose the AT&T/T-Mobile (T) merger, Verizon (VZ), which could benefit from the removal of T-Mobile as a low-cost competitor, continues to give the deal its tacit support. CEO Lowell McAdam demonstrates this support again today by claiming the merger "had to occur" due to spectrum shortages.
