The emergency plan: If J.C. Penney (JCP) loses its courtroom battle to sell Martha Stewart home goods inside of its stores, the retailer will reportedly look to Asian suppliers to produce an emergency line of private label bath products, bed linens and kitchenware to fill the void. The trick is that production could take 75 to 90 days and the company would have to takes losses on quite a bit of inventory.

Ron Johnson should have been terminated a year ago. He's pushed Penney off a cliff and it hasn't hit bottom yet. How long is the board going to let this go on? In the final analysis, it's the board's fault if Penney fails.

I am not a retail expert, but this seems like a huge costly error by the executives at JCP. I am not sure why they could not develop their own line with all the fresh personalities on shows like HGTV or The Food Channel.

I'm constantly surprised at the # of the RJ's defenders. Let's get real people! His 'grand plan' lacks TOTAL VISION.

Why don't they just put stickers over Martha Stuart's name and they will get her profits as well. These people have to think outside the box instead of relying on sweatshops to prosper.

He thinks he is above all because he worked for Apple ! He shouldn't have purchased all the merchandise before he knew the deal was done and he should have done it honestly. Martha and RJ have one vision and that is the adding zeros to there bank accounts.

Well I guess he can add a few more with nothing in front of them. I am just glad that now JCPenney can get back on track, and reestablish their consumer base.

I started working for the JCP company when I was a teenager. I am now a retired great-grandfather. All the many years I worked, I had strong faith in the company. I witnessed their continued growth and improvements over the years. I retired after 40+ years and watched my 401K investment grow larger and larger. Then Ron Johnson 'moved in' to totally send JCP into a downward spiral. I continued having faith in the company as my 401K got smaller, thinking it would turn around and start growing again. It didn't!! I lost over $140,000. Thank you Ron Johnson. Enjoy your millions of dollars severance pay while living like a king, while I lick my wounds and kick myself.

I haven't heard whether he got his severance or not. He resigned, and wasn't fired, so the severance might not apply. Sorry to hear about your situation though. Hopefully now the stock will rebound now that they have a CEO that will reach out to the consumer base.
