Decisions draw near on who regulators will or won't designate a systemically important nonbank financial, according to a source close to the process. While officials haven't let on which firms are up for the honor (and tighter regulation along with it), Prudential (PRU), AIG, and GE Capital have all reached the final stage of the process.
