Nokia (NOK) and Microsoft (MSFT) say they'll eventually offer $100 Windows Phone hardware, but Nokia appears to be hedging its bets by adopting a mobile Linux variant called Meltemi for low-end devices. Nokia's low-end sales have held up better than its sales of costlier smartphones, and the devices have also produced higher margins.
