Quantum (QTM) is planning to lay off 50 employees as part of a restructuring meant to focus the company on faster-growing storage segments, an exec tell The Register. The site adds "there is a feeling among some Quantum staff that the company is being made ready for a sale," with sources suggesting EMC or NetApp could be interested in parts of the company. Quantum is currently expected to report an 8.6% Y/Y revenue drop for calendar Q1.
