The cloud infrastructure price wars seem to have no end in sight: Microsoft (MSFT) responds to Amazon's (AMZN) neverending AWS price cuts - in last week's shareholder letter, Jeff Bezos bragged of cutting prices 27 times over the last 7 years - by promising its Azure service will match AWS cut for cut. Rackspace (RAX - previous) can't be too happy about that. The promise comes as Microsoft overhauls Azure to give clients a way to easily migrate Windows Server/Linux workloads to its public cloud with the help of virtualization software. looks evermore like AMZN's only goal in life is to make no money and they are infecting the rest of the industry, now MSFT has deep pockets, AMZN has none, yet AMZN's stock is trading close to all time highs and MSFT has been going sideways for a decade, no wonder WB does not touch these tech companies, not even with a bargepole.
i am Long MSFT / short AMZN, as yet feeling like a real schmuck

I feel your short pain wiesje,,,rolling the dice going into earnings. i just wish AMZN would correct & trade at a "realistic" price based on reality vs hype so I could learn to like it as opposed to HATING it!

MSFT is not one product, the cloud. They are like an octopus with tentacles into many businesses. I think the new windows 8, like all previous software introductions was slow, but it will eventually catch on and add to the bottom line. Further, MSFT tablets will start selling because they are business oriented and perhaps better products for for work done on the go. Companies today as we all know have to constantly be reinventing themselves and innovative and that is why AMZN and MSFT are both great companies. I am long MSFT.
