Bernanke does wonders when easy money goes from savers accounts that pay nothing to try and get any type of return that might be out there (aka taking risk in the stock market). Long gone are the days when savers got a good return and an incentive to obtain compounding interest at a bank.

The average interest rate for a one year CD now is .70%. That is pretty close to the compounding rate of return one gets by stuffing Federal Reserve Notes under a mattress. At least by stuffing notes under a mattress you'll have access to your money, unlike the Cypriots!

I hope really goes down. Not this pretend move to scare people out with etf options. I hope to panel my whole kitchen with it if it gets cheap enough. I love it that much. Come on you crafty manuipulaters drive it down, down, down. Ive waited my whole life for this. Imagine how cool my golf clubs will look dipped in liquid gold

Born the son of a construction tycoon, my Dad showed me the connection between the lower interest rates on loans made in Jan. & Feb., that floated with the prime rate, and the higher interest rates, when the house was completed and on the market, in late summer. The price of silver mirrored the change in interest rates, and I made a handsome profit on this seasonal trend. The same holds true with gold. Also, when "sell in May" comes true, precious metals will soar. What other "currency" is there to put your money into immediately? Sure, the Yuan, Rupee and Loonie will be the best, if you'd like to wait 2 to 4 years, but I hate to wait. If gold rises April 23rd thru the 26th, that tells me a new fresh low will occur in May, but will be the low for the year, if the Dow sells off in May.
I'm 64 years old and have been trading physical silver since 1967. After we went off the gold standard, I started trading gold in 1978.

Do you think I should hold on to my GLD and PHYS stocks?
I've taken a very big loss and this is huge for me as a retired

Judy, the way to answer your question, is if you read what you read today about the economy, fed and our monetary system, would you buy what you own today. I would think most would say yes. Possibly not some of the commentators here on SA who continually challenge those who own gold or promote the ownership of it, but most "thinking" people who understand economics would. Try reading lewrockwell.com and zerohedge.com for further understanding above and beyond what your read on SA.

Slick wall street manipulators have never stolen my money. But over the last 40 years they talked me out of it on four occasions. No more. My wealth may go to zero but I no longer sell it cheap for others to profit from. Good luck Dr. Judy. Dont overextend, dont leverage, and be satisfied with what you have and youll be fine.
