J.C. Penney (JCP) EVP of construction Ben Fay has reportedly left the company. Of interest, in light of JCP's ambitions to revamp its stores, and given recent reports that JCP may have cut corners on building codes in an effort to speed construction.

"JCP may have cut corners on building codes in an effort to speed construction."

Care to quote your source? SeekingAlpha should probably set a policy of linking to articles to justify their commentary - it appears that this is yet another example of being loose with words...

    Thanks for commenting Transcripts&10-K's.

The Market Current does link to a source (in this case StreetInsider). You should check out this NY Post article from yesterday which raised the building permit issues: http://bit.ly/ZnBaMn.

    Eli,

Thanks for that link; I thought you were referring to an earlier article from the Post discussing home office construction (obviously much different than what was mentioned here).

My point was that the StreetInsider link added nothing to help one reach the source; thanks for linking to the NY Post article.

Apparently our store missed the shortcuts....construction moves very slowly here. Now maybe finished in June....sigh.

That's exactly what happened in Boardman, Ohio. The store was closed for "AIR QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES". I know a worker - he stated it was asbestos. Store was built in the late 60's. Was just upgraded last year. They tore up the entire upstairs ( ALL NEW FLOORS and Carpet ) for the NEW LOOK SHOPS look. Customers stated JCP lost its mind. Spend 5 million on 2012, then tear it ALL out for the NEW look in 2013. No wonder JCO lost over 950 million. business decisions like this made NO sense!!
