A pairs trade for the record books: Bloomberg's Jon Erlichman points out at the start of 2007, Goldman Sachs (GS) had a market cap of $101B and Apple (AAPL) $79B. Today, Apple is worth $389B, Goldman $48B.

    We know what Apple does and owns. We will never have that
    kind of knowledge for GS or the typical bank. Owning shares in
    a company where you cannot know the real value of holdings is
    sheer folly.
