Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy S IV is a superb phone, if one can cope with a cheap plastic feel...

Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy S IV is a superb phone, if one can cope with a cheap plastic feel and too many gimmicks. That seems to be the consensus from the first full reviews. The Verge praises the S IV's display, camera, and performance, but still considers the HTC One a better bet. "The Galaxy S4 is fast and impressive, but it's also noisy and complex." TechCrunch and Gizmodo deliver similar takes. But others (I, II) make the case that more is ultimately better (this mindset has worked for Samsung thus far). The reviews arrive as Sprint and T-Mobile state their S IV launches will be delayed due to inventory issues. Key suppliers: QCOM, BRCM, SYNA, PANL, ATML, RFMD, TQNT. (previous)

RFMD and PANL are the ones with the most to gain here.

RFMD is a new supplier, and PANL stands to more than double their revenue: http://bit.ly/10zY4BZ

I've had mine over a year and have zero issues with it. In fact, I don't know anyone with issues with theirs either. Go figure.

Go figure indeed. 6 people too, though not a large sample all have issues. S3 hasn't been out over 2 years. The s2 has BARELY been out over 2 years. Do you have the GT-I9100? I don't know anyone with that one. I have the SGH-i777-Was wonderful up until a couple months ago.

My T-Mobile GSII has been very reliable since I bought it in February 2012, but then I have not tried to update beyond gingerbread.

My GS1 was a piece of Junk - the GPS didn't work and the battery lasted 6 hours. However my GS2 works like a charm. Go figure indeed.

one reviewer put it best: "(paraphrasing) the features are so cool but after 4 days I turned them all off and returned to texting, emailing, surfing uninterrupted."

The reviewer from TheVerge commented on how he hated holding it. Made some comment about how it was slick and slimy and his friends were none to interested in it either. The big screens are great though. That's why I bought my SG2 in the first place.

I know of four people who had battery issues and flash crash issues. They told me its posted all over Galaxy forums.
They are done with Samsung after contract ends in five months.

I desperately want to upgrade from Bionic (worst smart phone I've ever had) to S4 but I don't want to choose between paying full price for it at Verizon or losing my unlimited data plan : (

you can add a basic line for $10 a month and get the new phone then switch into your current unlimited data line.
That is cheaper than pay full price plus you can buy a basic phone and have another line

It's made of plastic, PLASTIC! Its just hyped up hardware, bulky, with a bloated and confusing Android OS. But Apple haters will love it, but what do they know. Android is an advertising virus.

Every smartphone user I have ever known or seen pull out his/her phone has it in one of those myriad slipper cases, so the only thing visible is the screen. Who cares if the hidden case is made of aluminum, plastic, or bamboo?

"cares if the hidden case is made of aluminum, plastic, or bamboo?"

It matters because it indicates a brand's commitment to excellence.

Yesterday at the Apple Store, a well-dressed man pulled out his iPhone 4(s) not protected (glass not cracked) ...

I have an htc evo design which is junk. I had to pull the battery so many times in the first couple months of ownership the cover is now scotch taped on. The wife has had two galaxy phones and has had literally zero problems. My next phone will be a galaxy or maybe an iphone if there's a decent sized screen. No way htc ever again.

I don't touch HTCs or Samsungs anymore. You should go with a Z10 or Lumia
