Yahoo (YHOO) buyout developments: Sources say a joint plan is coming from Silver Lake, a Canadian pension plan, and Microsoft (MSFT) (which would be in for the bulk of the deal, several billion dollars). After MSFT's failed 2008 bid, it won't go solo, but it reportedly wants key influence over Yahoo's future. (earlier: I, II)

    Good deal, glad to see Microsoft not going after them all by itself. Getting online will plug their biggest hole.

     

    By the way, I'm not familiar with pension plans and what they invest in, but are these kind of deals typical? I think the Yale guy talked that his group was invested into private equity.
