Is U.S. smartphone demand slowing down? Morgan Keegan's Tavis McCourt notes AT&T (T) and Verizon's (VZ) smartphone sales declined Q/Q in Q3, with both iPhone (AAPL) and non-iPhone shipments falling. Smartphones now make up over half of all U.S. phone sales, and 45% of AT&T and Verizon postpaid subscribers have taken up smartphone plans.

    With all the BS going on with the debt ceiling, economy was indeed soft during the summer.
