Aw shucks, I guess we'll be seeing fewer Hummers with "freedom isn't free" and "support our troops" ribbons on american roads. The clock is ticking to see how long it takes Sichuan to haul all that scrapmetal and rubber back to the mainland where few remain in unsustainable aspiration to our conspicuous consumption; adieu, aufwiedersehen, good riddance.

It will at least take awhile before they move to China any production so at least a temporary period were 3k americans will have some jobs. We should get used to it since it will be the waive of the future seen it in some low areas of tech were Chinese company come in and buy the company. It is the future of business. Just like Japanese in the 80's they have the money.

However, if the 3k americans had any ambitions they would have tried to buy the company itself then wait. That is something not happening in the auto industry unlike some tech firms I have worked in the past.

There was no more fitting example of the USAs imagine in the world in the late 20th century than the Hummer and there is no more fitting example of the state of the country in the early 21st century than the sale of the company to the Chinese.

How irresponsible, technology, ... the Hummer, developed by the United States tax payers, brand sold off to the Chinese government.

Sounds like the 1980s all over again with the United States technological, i.e. chip technology, innovation sold off to the Japanese.

Remember, Hummer does not make the Humvee (HMMWV). That is made by AM General.
