"The big impact starts to hit from about now onwards... I still hold out hope it will be a V-shaped recovery. It might not be the most likely scenario but it is not as unlikely as many people think." - Christina Romer, chairman of the U.S. president's council of economic advisers, on stimulus package
This administration continues to bamboozle the public. The stimulus still hasn't even been read...how do they know it is about to start. Again today the president's coordinator on energy and climate hasn't even read her own bill on cap and trade. She admitted this on two networks this morning. This administration invests in bigger ponzi scheme than Madoff!

The market may move sideways for a bit longer, but taking if one takes seriously what happened in 1974-76, after a sideways move for a while, we'll take another equities and gdp-growth move up... and a large stimulus (not present it 75) assures it.

Can you honestly make out the logic and meaning of this senteance? What is she attempting to convey?
Sublimal like the Mozart symphonies? At first I thought such words would come out from a graduate of the Little Three Liberal Arts colleges like the Amherst, Weslyan and Williams, but I guess Dr. Romer was not.
I think she's trying to say, "If you think the probability of a V-shaped recovery is 1%, I'm here to tell you there's actually a 2% probability of a V-shaped. The probability is actually 100% higher than you think it is."

Yes, surely the message came across fairly cryptic. In crytography one needs to find that key and hash function to unlock and decode an encrypted message.
Congratulations! You've found the key and the function.
I once listened to Dr. Romer talk on TV and was impressed as she came across being more straight to the point and more down to earth compared with some of her predecessors.
However, looking at the decrypted message, I am disappointed.

I have been betting against the pronouncements of the administration for the past several months, and have been right about 80% of the time. My gut feeling is that this is just more feel-good rhetoric that they hope will stave off a major crunch.
