"The BBC made sure to note that the production was a work of fiction based on the real-life events of the weekend of Sept. 12."

    Oh. please.

Not another docudrama with made up conversations and politically biased distortions.

There are actual facts about the event, since it actually did happen. How about having an actual reporter get the facts and present a non-fictionalized program ?

Fictionalizing something that really occurred...why would a news organization do that ? Are they just lazy, or is it because they want to present their own slanted version ? Either way, not sure why the world needs it.

Click on the first link for a graphic that shows discussion over TARP was the cause-in-fact of the equities crash of October 2008. This link is from the second link above.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

This figure is from John Taylor's paper on the crash, Critical Review:
A Journal of Politics and Society, Vol. 21, Nos. 2-3, 2009 Economic
Policy and the Financial Crisis: An Emperical Analysis of What Went Wrong – John B. Taylor

How in the H*** can you figure that. You can put damn near anything on the Y axis and get the same result. Or, you could conclude the problem continued to get worse until the actual details of TARP were announced. I see nothing in that itty bitty graph that would support such a big conclusion.

Great, now we can watch that debacle all over again. The BBC must feel that we all need this kind of reminder of the beauty of American Capitalism.

Aren't they going to do one on AIG? I guess the AIG one would be even more soapy.

Maybe Julia Roberts could play Sheila Bair. But why is the BBC producing this and not a U.S. cable channel? Perhaps HBO could carry it here; they did well with similar material in "Barbarians at the Gate" with James Garner.
