  • "We decorated it in the style that Merrill Lynch offices were, which was very, very nice ... That was a mistake, and I’m sorry that I did that. If I had that to do over again, I’d furnish it in Ikea." - John Thain, former Merrill Lynch (BAC) CEO, who spent $1.2M in office redecorations in the midst of the crisis. (He says he has reimbursed the company.)

Notice where Thain's speech was at

    A business school

Now who sat there and thought - I'd like to bring in the disgraced Merrill Lynch CEO as a guiding light to future American business leaders.

And people think things have changed? I love it personally. I'll get the piggy bank ready for each concurrent bailout from here - will it be every 3rd odd year or even year is all I ask to know in advance.

$1.2M for Thain is what, 2-3 hours of work considering what he used to "earn"?

Sounds like a thinly veiled swipe at B of A's management and their sense of "style." Although based on the B of A branches in my area, Ikea furnishings would be a huge upgrade. The branches look like DMV offices from the 1970's.
