  • A scary Halloween Friday for the markets indeed: Fear is high as the VIX jumps, and stocks tank, with broad sector losses. The Dow closes -2.5% (-250.08) to 9,712.50; S&P 500 -2.8% (-29.94) to 1,036.17; Nasdaq -2.5% (-52.44) to 2,045.11. Crude -3.6% to $77, but finishes up 9% for October. Gold -0.1% to $1,046.10.
