  • Three more Ford (F) plants reject union contract givebacks, bringing the total to 11 plants and dimming Ford's hopes of getting the concessions granted to GM and Chrysler. "This never happens. It’s a vote of no confidence in the bargaining committee and a vote of no confidence in Ford," says a labor professor. (previously: I, II, III)

This is the predictable aftermath of auto "bailout city." The unions have no reason not to extort money from Ford because if they bankrupt them, they'll get an even better deal from Uncle Sam.

The Unions won't be happy until they ruin the last and most iconic American auto manufacturer.

Then, over the next 20 years, the taxpayer will be paying for their retirement plans and healthcare and jackets and patches and bad attitude.

This really ticks me off. I bought Ford at $1.38 and sold it at $4.50, so I'm certainly not vested. Nonetheless, the UAW has become what it once sought to destroy......... greed in its purest form.

I'd like to see Ford risk a strike just to send a message. Maybe move a plant to Mexico to let these idiots know. Hate to say it, but....

can Ford be in trouble? they said they would be if the entire car market wasn't bigger than 10 million? will we hit that? unlikely. but possible. and why should Ford get the same deal as 2 bankrupt companies? the others got a court to do the deed for them. to many have no idea how much these folks get (not 70/hour). not even 50/hour. not do many if us know what they do (its not what it was 30 years ago). and there aren't many of them. so if Ford is doing so well, why do they need the same kid gloves that GM and Chrysler got?

What makes you think that Ford is doing good? From all that I can see from their financials, they are doing "less worse" than their bailed out cousins. While the phoney Cash for Political Clunkers raised sales for a few weeks, all it really did was make the next several months even worse.

I am betting that in the next year or two that a couple of plants will be closed in the US.

I blame a combination of a long existing UAW culture of privilege and a Congress that shovel fed the black hole with our money for decades. The pungently sickening worship of Ron Gettelfinger by Congress and the Administration was proof of it all

Ford needs to file BK and tell the super-greedy UAW to go to hell. Build the cars in MX, Canada, India, wherever needed, to be competitive. The UAW owns Obama and they know it so they don't care about their employer. Sick!

With continuing key industrial and national administration decisions driven by politics to this extent, our nation will face demise. Click on my image to see TK in prayer for the USA.
