How do I submit an article?

Please note new system: To submit an article for consideration by our Editors for publication on Seeking Alpha, you must first enter the article to your personal instablog. At the bottom of your instablog entry, you’ll see an option to ‘Submit to Seeking Alpha’s Editors’. You must upload a photo and bio to submit.

Seeking Alpha aims to provide the finest opinion and analysis from independent investors. It is therefore our editorial policy not to publish articles submitted by research firms or authors who are directly compensated by a company for coverage of that company's stock or business.  We do not publish articles written by authors who work in the field of Investor Relations.

What are Seeking Alpha’s guidelines for article publication?

  • Be specific

Write about a particular stock, sector, or ETF - not general market commentary.  Write about companies that are traded on U.S. exchanges. Avoid recaps, news rehashes, or macro-economic overviews.

  • Be fundamental, opinionated and logical

Address the company’s competitive environment, management, products, corporate strategy, earnings outlook, valuation and/or balance sheet. We do not publish pure technical analysis, nor do we publish articles that offer merely conjecture. Rather, we look for informed opinion based on rigorous analysis presented in a clear and cogent manner. We welcome ‘long cases’ and ‘short cases’ for stocks, but please be sure to provide sound, in-depth reasoning for your positions.

  • Be market-oriented

We publish macro-economic pieces that touch on political matters, but if your submission focuses mainly on politics or non-business related trends and only tangentially addresses market-related topics, it’s not suitable for Seeking Alpha.

  • Be candid

All articles must contain in the footer a disclosure statement letting the reader know if you hold any positions in the stocks mentioned. If you don’t, mention that as well.

  • Be unique

Write about stocks or ETFs that others aren’t writing about. If you do cover something well known, bring a new perspective that others may have missed.

  • Be brief

Your submission has a better chance of being accepted if it’s well crafted and to the point. We prefer submissions that are no longer than 1,000 words. Articles running 2,500 words and up must be broken into two or more parts for publication.

  • Be grammatical

We can fix a few typos, but if your submission doesn’t follow generally accepted standards for written English and requires heavy copy editing, in all likelihood we won’t be able to publish it.

  • Be known

Providing your real identity will build credibility and reputation for your work. We do, however, publish material under a pseudonym, but we require full identity disclosure for our confidential files. See our policy for anonymous submissions.

  • Be selective with regard to penny stocks

Our traditional policy has always been to avoid penny stocks due to concern for manipulation. The current market climate, however, has driven many broadly-held, mid- and largecap stocks down to unprecedented lows - in many cases under $1. Therefore, we do currently consider submitted articles about stocks trading under a dollar. Here’s more information on our interim policy on penny stocks.
