Violin Memory 6200 All Flash Array Now Certified Enterprise Storage Solution for SAP HANA®
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Violin Memory®, Inc., (NYSE:VMEM), a leading provider of all-flash storage arrays and appliances delivering application solutions for enterprises, today announced the general availability of the Violin 6200 Series All Flash Array for the SAP HANA® platform. The solution has been certified by SAP as an enterprise storage solution for SAP HANA. This certification enables Violin to participate in SAPs program for SAP HANA tailored data center integration using its certified solution. Through participation in the program, customers can leverage their existing hardware and infrastructure components for their SAP HANA-based environments, providing further choice for organizations even when working in heterogeneous environments.
Certification was achieved by working in conjunction with the SAP® Co-Innovation Lab in Palo Alto, Calif. The new SAP-certified solution complements existing solutions from Violin for SAP IQ software and SAP Adaptive Server® Enterprise (SAP ASE).
In an environment running SAP HANA, the Violin 6200 Series All-Flash Array provides block storage for data and log files. It can provide 40 TB of tier-1 storage in a single 3U rack unit with up to 4GB/s bandwidth and 1M IOPS for much less cost than traditional disk or hybrid storage solutions. Customers can deploy Violin All-Flash Array multi-terabyte storage for SAP HANA for a fraction of the initial cost of legacy storage offerings.
Database load, back-up and cache-swapping latencies can be dramatically reduced compared to legacy hybrid SSD/HDD architectures. Scale-up, scale-out and cluster scenarios are incredibly simple to manage without concerns for caching, disk groups, dedicated hot spares, performance concerns and space considerations all with linear, consistent performance. All active components in a Violin 6200 Series All-Flash Array have built-in, hardware-controlled protection and redundancy.
There is strong customer demand for infrastructure that can provide enhanced support of SAP HANA-based transactions, for analytics, text analysis, predictive and spatial processing, and so on, said Mark Peters, senior analyst at ESG. The certification of the Violin 6200 Series All Flash Array for SAP HANA makes it clear that high performance all-flash arrays are perfectly equipped to do that, and can deliver the extreme levels of performance, agility, availability and automation needed for users to benefit from the competitive advantage that can come with advanced real-time business analytics.
Businesses implementing SAP HANA on flash can enjoy outstanding performance without degradation, said Eric Herzog, CMO and SVP at Violin Memory (VMEM). We are proud that our Violin 6200 All Flash Array has been certified as an enterprise storage solution for SAP HANA. We expect this will help further accelerate the application ecosystem for our joint customers.
Violin All Flash Arrays are available from Violin Memory. SAP HANA is available from SAP and its authorized partners. Flash storage solutions from Violin Memory are also delivered as the shared storage option for the FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE.
