    • Ann (NYSE:ANN) +12.1% AH following a Reuters report that P-E firm Golden Gate Capital is in advanced one-on-one negotiations to acquire the parent of women's retailer Ann Taylor, in a deal that could value the company at ~$2B.
    • Ann is said to be interested in an offer in the low $40s/share, but it is not known how much Golden Gate is offering; a deal could come together as soon as next week, the report says.

    • Bloomberg reports ANN is "exploring a sale and has reached out to potential buyers." JPMorgan is said to be helping with the process.
    • The women's apparel retailer is reportedly talking with at least two buyout firms, and is also weighed carrying out a PIPE transaction.
    • Activists Engine Capital and Red Alder have argued Ann could fetch a steep premium in a sale. Meanwhile, the company has signed an NDA with top shareholder Golden Gate Capital, which in August said it wasn't interest in a buyout.
    • Shares have risen to $38.03 AH.

    • Engine Capital, along with hedge-fund partner Red Alder believe women's apparel retailer Ann (NYSE:ANN) could fetch approximately $2.5B should it sell itself.
    • The investors, which control just more than 1% of Ann stock, have been in talks with Ann's management for weeks but plan to launch a public campaign because they don't believe the company is moving fast enough.
    • Ann says that it is open to the communication and that the board and management team were "committed to creating value" for all shareholders.
