Disney (DIS -0.6%) reports earnings tomorrow with expectations running high that all of its segments will show momentum. What to watch: Though headline advertising revenue from ESPN could dominate the report, SA author Darren Hart points out the capital the company invested in theme parks and resorts may start to drive up revenue in the segment  and affect guidance. Disney's conference call could also tip off new plans for Pixar, Marvel, or Lucasfilm properties to put a fresh charge into shares as they teeter near all-time highs.

Film industry analysts are cautiously optimistic that the choice of J.J. Abrams (Lost, Mission Impossible III, Star Trek into Darkness) to direct the next Star Wars film is a solid pick which can breathe fresh life into the weathering franchise. Though the film is still over two years out, expect Disney (DIS) to slowly integrate the Star Wars brand into its other segments as it looks to start cashing in on what some call a massive merchandising and content opportunity.

The aggressive moves by Fox Sports (NWS +0.3%) in building the cornerstone for a national sports network isn't a threat to Disney's (DIS +1%) ESPN anytime soon, according to analysts. In order to cut significantly into ESPN's dominance, Fox would need to land NBA or NFL rights which won't be up for bidding for years. The most likely scenario is that Fox Sports will keep adding a steady mix of MLB, college football, NASCAR, and English Premier League programming to help it hike the prices it charges cable companies.

Riley Caris thinks Disney (DIS +2.3%) will see improved results with wider margins at its theme parks and higher advertising rates for ESPN. The firm ups its rating to Buy from Neutral and sets a $63 price target. After taking on some scattered criticism for its $4B Lucasfilm purchase, Disney has seen its shares calmly meander to new all-time highs.

Judge Lucy Koh yesterday ordered Tim Cook to testify in a lawsuit over whether Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG) and other hi-tech companies breached antitrust laws by agreeing not to try to poach each others' employees. Erich Schmidt is also due to appear in the trial, as is Intel's (INTC) Paul Otellini. Lawyers for the five plaintiffs in the case reckon that damages could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.

Disney (DIS +0.3%) will push a new innovation on visitors to its theme park with a magic bracelet embedded with credit card information that will allow visitors to pay for purchases and enter rides with a sweep of the arm. Though accusations of "Big Brother" watching will likely continue to pop up, the ability for parkgoers to reserve ride times and navigate the parks quicker could trump those concerns.

Disney (DIS -0.1%) plans to take a serious look at creating a live-action Star Wars TV series as it dusts off a number of "provocative" scripts that have been circulated around Hollywood for years. Media analysts note the plan makes imminent sense with Disney able to use its stable of networks to create a long-lasting revenue stream and keep licensing fees inside the House of Mouse. This is where it gets really interesting: Disney could also jumpstart its increasing focus on gaming by tying in show plots with online and mobile games.
