- Jet Aviation, a unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has given a boost to its U.S. operation with an acquisition of the aircraft management and charter services of Avjet.
- Terms were undisclosed. Los Angeles-based Avjet has a fleet of 45 aircraft including Boeing business jets and Gulfstream 650s.
- Avjet Chairman and CEO Marc Foulkrod will continue to operate the sales and brokerage division along with Andrew Bradley under the name Avjet Global.
- With Bradley in charge of the sales division after joining in 1997, Avjet closed more than 450 transactions valued at more than $8B.

General Dynamics (GD) acquires privately held Open Kernel Labs, a Chicago-based corporation that is a leading provider of virtualization software for securing wireless communications, applications and content for mobile devices and automotive in-vehicle infotainment systems. General Dynamics (GD +0.4%) acquires the defense operations of Gayston Corporation, a privately held supplier of precision metal components used in the manufacture of rocket motor tubes for the U.S. Army's Hydra-70 air-to-ground rocket program. It also provides liners and cartridges for 40mm ammunition rounds and components for 60-120mm mortar rounds. The company expects the deal to be accretive to earnings in 2013. General Dynamics (GD -0.3%) acquires cyber security firm Fidelis Security Systems. The The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Fidelis employs approximately 70 people at locations in Waltham, Massachusetts, and Bethesda, Maryland. General Dynamics (GD +3.5%) acquires the Ship Repair and Coatings Division of Earl Industries, a ship repair company that supports the U.S. Navy fleet in Norfolk, Virginia and Mayport, Florida.
