    • IVAN also says it is review strategic and financial options, including a possible sale of the company, a sale of a portion of its assets, recapitalization, debt restructuring or some combination, to repay debt and fund operations.

    • Ivanhoe Energy (IVAN +2.7%) confirms it will take part in a consortium to develop heavy oil at Block 20, located in Ecuador's Amazon basin.
    • IVAN says it reached agreement with Ecuador's government to terminate the contract under which it has been operating as a step toward entering into a new service contract with a consortium consisting of IVAN and one of the world's largest national oil companies, which has experience working in Ecuador.
    • The Pungarayacu oil field, which includes Block 20, contains ~4.5B barrels of heavy crude.

    • The consolidation is intended to establish the basis for IVAN shares to trade above $1; the move will reduce the number of outstanding common shares to ~16.4M from ~114.8M.

    • Ivanhoe Energy (IVAN +9.5%) recoups all its losses from Friday as it names Greg Phaneuf as its new CFO, replacing Gerald Schiefelbein, who announced Friday he would leave IVAN effective May 31 to accept a leadership role with another company.
    • Phaneuf brings 23 years' experience in the financial and energy sectors, and has spent four years at IVAN as Senior VP for Business Development and Corporate Strategy.

    • Turquoise Hill (TRQ -24.1%) founder Robert Friedland says he plans to participate fully in the company's $2.4B rights issue; the mining tycoon owns a 10% stake in TRQ, which means he would have to pay ~$240M if he takes up his share of the rights issue.
    • More than 1B shares are expected to be issued, resulting in a doubling of TRQ's shares outstanding; the rights will stop trading on Jan. 7.
    • Also, Friedland, the executive chairman of Ivanhoe Mines (IVAN), says he remains interested in pursuing a secondary listing for that company.

    Ivanhoe Energy (IVAN -3.8%) slams allegations in a lawsuit launched against it over an oilfield development contract in Ecuador, and says the suit will not derail its plans in the country. The action relates to IVAN’s development of the Pungarayacu oilfield; a similar suit was thrown out in a Colorado court in 2009.

    Ivanhoe Energy (IVAN +6%) says it received Chinese government approval to transfer its interest in the Zitong Block, Sichuan Basin, to Shell China Exploration and Production. IVAN says the approval sets the stage for it to increase its pre-tax working capital by $105M.

The company says no material adverse developments have occurred to explain the drop, and top managers have maintained their shareholdings and will increase them over time.
