A day after rallying thanks to a Goldman upgrade, Logitech (LOGI -4.2%) is selling off following a downgrade to Underperform from Credit Suisse. Weak PC and home electronics peripherals sales continue to make life tough for Logitech, which just saw a CEO change.

Logitech (LOGI) president Bracken Darrell has taken over as CEO as part of a planned transition. Darrell, who joined Logitech in April after running Whirlpool's EMEA ops, steps in for chairman Guerrino De Luca, who has been acting CEO since July '11. The PC/electronics peripherals maker he now runs faces a long list of industry and company-specific challenges.

Logitech (LOGI -2.6%) is near 10-year lows again after H-P reported an awful quarter for its PC division, and Reuters took a close look at the peripherals maker's challenges. In addition to poor PC demand, Logitech has been hurt by a weak reception for audio products (headphones, Wi-Fi speakers, etc.) meant to exploit the mobile device boom, and has to deal with efforts from OEMs to sell their own accessories. Going forward, a lack of gesture/voice recognition solutions could present a challenge.

Logitech (LOGI +4.6%) spiked in the final 20 minutes of trading after announcing it will ask shareholders to approve a one-time dividend with payout of up to CHF125.6M ($128.6M) at the company's Sep. 5 annual meeting. A payout at that level would result in a dividend of roughly $0.78/share, or 7.4% of Logtiech's current share price. (PR)

Logitech (LOGI) is laying off 450 people, or 13% of its "non-direct-labor workforce," as part of its previously-announced restructuring. Starting in FY14, the restructuring should save the company an annual $80M in operating costs.
