- The head of the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) says regulators will eventually approve DigitalGlobe's (DGI -4.9%) bid to commercially sell higher-resolution satellite images. But she declines to provide a specific date, given the White House is still coordinating the policies of various agencies (inc. the Pentagon and State Department).
- DGI has been pushing for clearance to sell higher-resolution images, but has faced pushback from officials worried undermining the U.S. government imagery intelligence edge. Sources have told Reuters a phased implementation over the course of the year is expected to be approved.
- DGI, which launches its powerful WorldView-3 satellite in August, gradually sold off on a down day for equities. Shares rose three weeks ago after the company posted an FQ4 beat.
