    • PerkinElmer (NYSE:PKI) acquires molecular diagnostics firm Vanadis Diagnostics, AB for an undisclosed sum. The Swedish company is developing a fully automated solution for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) based on digital analysis of cell-free DNA.
    • Vanadis' system, called Smart NIPT, converts only the targeted chromosome regions that pertain to aneuoploidy screening for analysis, thereby avoiding the unnecessarily large volumes of nonessential genetic data generated by typical sequencing.

    • PerkinElmer (PKI -0.3%) acquires Stockholm-based Perten Instruments Group AB for $266M. Perten manufactures advanced analytical instruments for quality control of food, grain, flour and feed. The transaction expands PerkinElmer's footprint in food testing.
    • Perten's top line is ~$65M. It should contribute ~$0.04 to PKI's earnings in 2015.

    PerkinElmer (PKI) says it's completed the acquisition of Shanghai Haoyuan Biotech, a China-based infectious disease diagnostics company, for $38M in cash plus future consideration based on the achievement of revenue-based targets. PKI says the deal should be immaterial to adjusted earnings for the remainder of 2012 and 2013 and accretive beginning in 2014.

    PerkinElmer (PKI) agrees to buy Caliper Life Sciences (CALP) for $10.50 a share, a 42% premium over yesterday's closing price. The $600M deal adds "innovative molecular imaging and detection technologies" to PerkinElmer's portfolio, according to its CEO. Shares of CALP +40% premarket.
