    Box.net, a rapidly-growing provider of cloud storage and document-sharing solutions for businesses, has raised $81M in Series D funding, at a valuation reported to be north of $600M. Salesforce.com (CRM) and SAP took part in the round.

    GigaOm's Barb Darrow isn't too impressed with Oracle's (ORCL) newest hardware (I, II), believing the products are more about integrating acquired and open-sourced technology, than offering new innovations. Exalytics represents Oracle's latest effort to lift its slumping hardware sales through proprietary offerings, and is meant to counter SAP's successful Hana software platform.

    German business software giant SAP states it has no interest in following archrival Oracle's (ORCL) lead and making a hardware acquisition. SAP, which has recently seen some insider buying, is sticking to its 2015 sales target of €20B in spite of Europe's macro issues, and is hoping its Hana analytics software will be a major growth driver.

    Ever-litigious Oracle (ORCL) plans to fight yesterday's unfavorable ruling in a suit against SAP over the latter's TomorrowNow subsidiary. It also plans to continue a suit against Rimini Street, a company that, like TomorrowNow, provides cheap support services for enterprise software, and can thereby undercut Oracle's lucrative services business.
