    • The roughed-up stock of Under Armour (NYSE:UA) briefly spiked nearly 3% shortly after the open of trade this morning on vague chatter about interest from Adidas (OTCQX:ADDYY, OTCQX:ADDDF).
    • The shares have since given up the bulk of those gains, now higher by 0.4% on the session.

    • Product revenue growth: Apparel +29.7% to $707.7M; Footwear +55% to $85.8M; Accessories +22.2% to $78.99M.
    • Global growth took off in the quarter, up 131% to $86.97M.
    • Gross profit rate -140 bps to 49.9% due in part to a higher mix of global sales.
    • SG&A expense rate -330 bps to 33.6%.
    • Guidance: Under Armour sees operating income growing 12%-15% in 2015, a mark that falls below prior guidance.
    • The company also announced it has made a stronger play in the fitness app game with the acquisitions of MyFitnessPal for $410M and Endomondo (early Jan. buy) for $85M. The combined community of registered fitness apps users for Under Armour appears to challenge Nike's fitness app tally.

    • Under Armour (UA +0.4%) announces it purchased fitness technology player MapMyFitness for $150M.
    • The company says the acquisition will help beef up its ability to offer cutting edge digital fitness products and platforms.
    • The deal is slated to close by the end of the year and won't impact Under Armour's previous guidance for 2013 or initial outlook on 2014 at this time.
    • What to watch: Under Armour still has a long way to go to catch up to Nike's (NKE +0.6%) formidable lead in fitness technology, but the MapMyFitness buy indicates it's not giving the swoosh a free ride in the growing category.
