However, losses were higher than the same period last year, which came in at a loss of $9.1M, or $0.13 per share, on revenues of $2.5M. Comment! [Healthcare, Earnings, On the Move]

[On the Move] - Monday, January 7, 8:31 AM Achillion's (ACHN +3.2%) ACH-3102 medicine for chronic hepatitis C viral infections, in combination with antiviral drug ribavirin, has performed well so far in a Phase 2a study of 8 patients. The treatment "resulted in the rapid reduction in HCV RNA accompanied by normalization of liver enzymes." The combo also appears to be safe and well tolerated. (PR) 2 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, January 2, 10:14 AM SA author Regarded Solutions bangs the table for Achillion Pharmaceuticals (ACHN +5.1%), citing its "wonderful balance sheet" and its four hepatitis C drugs, which could, "for all intents and purposes," cure the illness if approved. Achillion's promise has brought it several upgrades and made it a potential takeover target. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, November 12, 2012, 1:43 PM Shares of Achillion (ACHN -11%) drop hard on the back of competitor Gilead's (GILD +12%) positive results from Phase 2 testing of its Hep C antiviral drug ribavirin. ACHN is developing its own hepatitis C virus treatment which has performed well in tests. Wells Fargo's Brian Abraham says ACHN is "well-positioned" to participate in the HCV market, and today's weakness creates a buying opportunity. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 12:36 PM Achillion (ACHN +4.6%) gains on a price target increase to $17 from $12 at Deutsche Bank. The firm says liver abstracts from Bristol-Myers (BMY +0.6%) and Abbott (ABT +0.1%) bode well for the future success of ACHN's two drug combo regimens for the treatment of hepatitus C virus. The firm made similar comments yesterday about Gilead (GILD +1.6%). Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Friday, September 28, 2012, 12:30 PM Cowen thinks Achillion (ACHN +1.6%) is likely to be acquired by a biopharm company in need of a hep C pipeline, and considering yesterday's announcement of positive Phase 1a trial results for its drug ACH-3102, the risk/reward profile looks favorable. The company hosted an Analyst Day meeting to discuss ACH-3102 today, and Cowen thinks the company successfully made the case for differentiating it from other first generation hep C drugs. Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
