- Thursday, May 9, 9:42 AM Audience (ADNC +3.6%) rallies for the second day in a row following news CFO Kevin Palatnik recently bought 25K shares at $13.97, his third purchase in the last 12 months. Shares of the mobile voice-processing chip/IP firm have nearly tripled from their Oct. low, after having been crushed on news its IP wasn't designed into the iPhone 5. A Galaxy S4 design win has helped Audience's cause. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]

- Tuesday, March 5, 10:12 AM Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy S IV is coming into focus. EVLeaks, a pretty reputable source of gadget scoops, reports the device will have a 5" 1080p OLED display, a 13MP camera, and 2GB of RAM (generally in-line with past rumors). Meanwhile, the NYT reports the S IV, set to be unveiled on March 14, will feature the ability to "track a user’s eyes to determine where to scroll." Possible/likely suppliers: PANL, MXIM, SWKS, ADNC. QCOM might supply a Snaprdragon processor for the U.S. version, but Samsung's Exynos Octa appears to power the international version. 3 Comments [Tech]
- Wednesday, February 6, 1:03 PM Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) anticipated Galaxy S IV will be announced on March 15, SamMobile reports - the site has been an accurate source of Samsung rumors in the past. The device will reportedly go on sale in Europe and Asia in April, and hit North America in May or June. Rumored specs include a 5" 1080p OLED display, Exynos 5 Octa processor (for some models, at least), and 13MP camera. Possible/likely suppliers (I, II) include BRCM, QCOM, PANL, SWKS, ADNC, and MXIM. 42 Comments [Tech]

[On the Move] - Thursday, January 31, 4:46 PM Tech guidance roundup: 1) Audience (ADNC - earnings) expects Q1 revenue of $43M-$46M and EPS of $0.08-$0.12, way above a consensus of $31.8M and $0.01. 2) Emulex (ELX - earnings) expects FQ3 revenue of $110M-$114M and EPS of $0.12-$0.14, below a consensus of $117.5M and $0.16. 3) Brightcove (BCOV - earnings) expects 2013 revenue of $102M-$105M and EPS of -$0.18 to -$0.25, below a consensus of $106.2M and -$0.15. - Thursday, January 31, 4:28 PM Audience (ADNC): Q4 EPS of $0.14 beats by $0.04. Revenue of $38.7M beats by $1.66M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech]
- Friday, January 4, 9:50 AM Silicon Image (SIMG -8.7%) opens down sharply after warning it expects Q4 revenue of $59M-$60M, below prior guidance of $64M-$67M and a consensus of $65.7M. The chipmaker blames "the rescheduling of certain orders by a large customer," and says it expects Q1 product sales to be up Q/Q. Is that "large customer" Samsung? SIMG supplies MHL video transmitter chips for the Galaxy S III and other Samsung smartphones. Other key Samsung chip suppliers include MXIM, SWKS, BRCM, and ADNC. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, November 8, 2012, 1:48 PM If there was any lingering doubt Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy S line has an unrivaled cachet in the Android universe, Strategy Analytics' Q3 data should remove it. The firm estimates 18M S III units were shipped, giving the device a 10.7% share of total smartphone shipments. It also estimates Apple (AAPL), which sold 26.9M iPhones overall, is believed to have shipped 16.2M iPhone 4S units and 6M iPhone 5 units. Samsung's total Q3 smartphone shipments were previously pegged at 56.9M. Key Galaxy S III suppliers: MXIM, SWKS, ADNC, BRCM. 37 Comments [Tech]
- Thursday, October 25, 2012, 5:17 PM Audience (ADNC): Q3 EPS of $0.21 beats by $0.05. Revenue of $40.8M beats by $4M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Tech]
- Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 1:46 PM Some more iPhone 5 features: A better rear camera sporting a sapphire lens cover and revamped image processing; a 1080p FaceTime camera; a smaller "lightning" dock connector; improved battery life and Wi-Fi performance; wideband audio playback; and 3 microphones to improve call quality (might be why ADNC was kicked out). Apple (AAPL +0.7%) is slightly higher. Suppliers are up moderately: OVTI +1.9%. CRUS +2.5%. BRCM +1.9%. SNDK +1.8%. (live blog) (more) 5 Comments [Tech]
- Friday, September 7, 2012, 2:11 PM Pandora can take comfort in the fact it's not Audience (ADNC -65.9%). The call-processing chip/technology developer has shed almost 2/3 of its value after disclosing its tech won't be used in the next iPhone. As you'd expect, downgrades are pouring in: while Credit Suisse is only cutting its 2013 revenue forecast by 9%, it's slashing its EPS forecast by 75%, since Apple's royalties (unlike chip sales) are almost pure profit. Sterne Agee thinks Cirrus Logic (CRUS) could benefit from Audience's woes. Comment! [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
