Akorn (AKRX -12.2%) takes a hit this morning after Q1 revenue results missed the mark. The company noted that due to constraints in capacity with its manufacturing partners as well as other market challenges, it was lagging behind with the launches of certain products that were approved late last year. It expects the issue to be resolved sometime in H2. Due to the problems however, it's lowering its forecast for FY13, now anticipating sales of $60M to $62M, or $0.53 to $0.55 per share - below Street expectations of $0.61.

Shares of Akorn (AKRX -1.8%) slip after projecting its 2013 EPS to come in below Street estimates, despite forecasting record revenue as the niche pharmaceutical company boosts its product pipeline. It now expects to earn $0.57 to $0.61 per share, versus expectations of $0.66. Revenue is anticipated at $325M to $335M, in line with analysts projections of $331M. Shares of Akorn (AKRX +6.7%) move higher after its preliminary Q2 revenue beat estimates this morning. Revenue grew by 97% over the comparable prior year quarter or 37% excluding the impact of acquisitions. The company also guides its FY12 earnings higher, now expecting to earn between $0.50 - $0.52 on revenue of $248M - $258M, versus previous expectations of $0.44 - $0.46 per share on revenue of $228M - 238M.
