- Tuesday, June 18, 12:33 PM Amarin (AMRN -0.5%) continues its slide on the back of Friday's news that NCE status on Vascepa was once again delayed. However, MKM Partners analyst Jon LeCroy thinks the delay may have a silver lining. Lecroy says that while the NCE designation is the preferred outcome here, the delay also prevents the company from being targeted for a takeover. The shares are likely to remain under pressure until an NCE decision is made though, which MKM expects to come around July 12. 5 Comments [Healthcare]

Meanwhile, Amarin reports further positive results for Vascepa when taken in conjunction with statins. 4 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, May 29, 9:58 AM AstraZeneca's (AZN -1.5%) $443M deal to acquire Omthera puts the U.K. company at "distinct commercial advantage" over Amarin (AMRN +0.3%), says Decision Resources' Paramjit Narang. Omthera's Epanova drug "offers higher and more constant bioavailability, and arguably better efficacy" in lowering triglyceride than Amarin's Vascepa, and it "lacks the gastrointestinal side effects of the market incumbent Lovaza," which is sold by GSK (GSK -2%). Narang reckons Epanova's annual sales could peak at $1B. 9 Comments [Healthcare, M&A]
- Tuesday, May 28, 12:40 PM Amarin (AMRN -6.4%) trades lower on negative comments out of Summer Street this morning, saying that Vascepa might not be as key as previously thought. The firm notes that a member of AMRN's steering committee presented at a primary care conference last week, and said there was no reason to give Vascepa to patients with triglycerides <500 mg/dL until the outcome of current trials are completed, and, even if approval is granted early, sales are likely to disappoint. 8 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, May 22, 2:07 PM After an early 5% pop to the upside, Amarin (AMRN -0.9%) reverses course to trade lower after the company said the USPTO published a notification tied to its combination product of Vascepa and Statin Therapy. The application is part of AMRN's expansive portfolio, which includes 23 patent applications either issued or allowed, and over 30 applications pending in the U.S. 2 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Wednesday, May 22, 6:58 AM The U.S. Patent Office publishes a Notice of Allowance for Amarin's (AMRN) application "intended to protect the [combination of] Vascepa and statin therapy." (PR) 1 Comment [Healthcare]
- Friday, May 17, 3:43 PM Shares of Amarin (AMRN -1.1%) rebound somewhat from an earlier dip on news that its Vascepa wasn't in the FDA's Orange Book for April. 5 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Thursday, May 9, 5:43 PM Amarin (AMRN): Q1 EPS of -$0.41 misses by $0.02. (PR) 2 Comments [Earnings, Breaking News, Healthcare]
- Tuesday, April 23, 9:15 AM Amarin (AMRN) says the FDA has accepted its supplemental new drug application for Vascepa and set a December 20 target date to complete its regulatory review. The company's seeking approval of the the cholesterol-reducing fish-oil pill as an adjunct to diet for the treatment of high triglycerides with mixed dyslipidemia. Losers: IRWD -10%. RSH -7%. IOC -6%. Comment! [On the Move] - Thursday, April 18, 8:53 AM Amarin (AMRN) rises 2.49% premarket after saying the FDA has approved its Supplemental New Drug Application to add Chemport as a supplier of ingredients for Vascepa, AMRN's first approved product. The move comes as AMRN attempts to expand its supply chain and protect Vascepa's commercial potential by "taking advantage of manufacturing barriers to entry." Comment! [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Friday, April 12, 12:03 PM Amarin (AMRN -2%) trades lower on reports that Vascepa's exclusivity status isn't in FDA Orange Book update for March. Earlier this week the drug was listed in a report by EvaluatePharma called "The industry's brightest hopes: where are they now?" as the fourth most disappointing drug, having seen lofty expectations of a potential $2B annual market dwindle down to just $505M. 5 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, April 8, 7:25 AM Amarin (AMRN) gains 1.5% premarket after announcing significants reductions in apolipoprotein C-III levels in Phase 3 testing of Vascepa. Apo C-III is thought in inhibit the clearance of triglycerides from the blood. (PR) 1 Comment [Healthcare]
- Tuesday, April 2, 11:14 AM MKM Partners' Jon LeCroy is reiterating his Buy rating and $12 price target on Amarin (AMRN +1.8%) following last week's solid Vascepa weekly prescription data. LeCroy notes that if the current growth continues, assuming a wholesale cost of $184 per prescription and a prescription under-reporting rate of 22%, that would imply Q1 Vascepa sales of approximately $2.2M and Q2 of around $11M. So, while the consensus estimates still appear to be slightly high, LeCroy thinks that with stocking, they still could be attainable. 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move]
- Monday, April 1, 12:47 PM Amarin (AMRN +1%) gets a boost from some positive commentary out of Leerink Swann today, saying that Vascepa's prescription data appears to be tracking well. The firm notes that the largest TRx advance since the drug's launch was recorded last week, and the number of new prescriptions and refills are growing. Looking forward, Leerink thinks the AMRN's ramped-up marketing efforts and moves to obtain Tier 2 reimbursement should further accelerate TRx growth. 1 Comment [Healthcare, On the Move]
