It found the effect especially pronounced following a terrible year in stocks. The bottom quartile of stocks returned roughly 18% in the January following the worst 10 years for the S&amp;P since 1927, with no down years. <br> <br> The easiest method to take advantage of this effect is to go long a microcap ETF ([[IWC]], [[PZI]]), or for the more risk averse, go long a microcap ETF and short a large cap ETF ([[VTI]], [[SPY]]).</div>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Rising platinum prices due to ongoing power shortages in South Africa is good news for miners of the precious metal, but with lower expected production and higher power and production costs also expected, some platinum equities won't receive full benefit, says Raymond James analsyt Bart Jaworski.<!--more-->

<p>Mr. Jaworski told clients in a note that platinum prices have risen 30% since early January due primarily to the power shortages but also because of increasingly stringent mine safety controls imposed by the South African government and a weakening U.S. dollar.
