8 Stocks to Buy if McCain Wins [view article]
We should be drilling no matter who is President. Want to create jobs at home? Want to help companies grow? Want to supply our own energy to not only our own people, but better position ourselves to sell to other countries? The answer is a no-brainer. Turning a blind-party line eye to this would be criminal. Reply

Metalurgical Coal. Technology for Clean Coal is already available, at least in the Lab. Super fine filters have been Lab grown which capture 100% of the CO2 by targeting the molecules themselves. The current problem facing this tech. is growing them in sizes to fit smokestacks. Eventually they will be.

As far as drilling is concerned, if it contributes to job growth, I say do it. Besides, I do not know a single person who has been to ANWR but know a lot who have gone to Yellowstone.

Don't we already import coal from Canada? and wouldn't the majority of our Uranium 235 come from Canada or need to be imported as well?

The largest supplier of oil is Canada to the USA.

Looks like Canada will be doing well with their exports.

Does anyone honestly think Las Vegas, the world's largest resort combine is just going to disappear? Then let me sell you some vacant land on Mt. Everest. This is a golden opportunity to accumulate LVS MGM, Boyd and Wynn shares at fire sale prices. If that wasn't enough, add Macau, the largest gambling mecca in the world which is frosting on the cake.

Cleveland Cliffs vs. Harbinger: Will the Hedgies Win? [view article]
"Cleveland-Cliffs Chief Executive Joseph Carrabba spoke with Clark on July 15 to inform him that the company was about to announce the proposed acquisition of Alpha" ? Who is "Clark" ? I was thinking he met with Falcone. Anyway, the Oct 3rd vote can't come soon enough as this cloud of uncertainty is not good for ANR or CLF investors. Reply

The current situation fully reflects the ongoing problem facing management ,stockholders and the regulatory bodies.Hedge Funds have one objective, maximize profits. In my opinion they have advantages which the average investor does not possess-huge amounts of capital-which can be used to achieve their objectives.Naked short selling is just one of the tools in their arsenal, they also trade on multiple markets for opacity.Hedge Funds should be subjected to the same rules as retail customers and be required to trade strictly during trading hours of the U.S.markets.In addition,if their holdings exceed 9% a notice of their intentions should be made public prior to execution. Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]
Healthcare and legacy costs are partially to blame, but the UAW is, in my opinion, more of the culprit. I worked for Ford and experienced the ridiculousness of all of the red tape first hand. The UAW is nothing more than a leech. From the union reps who do nothimg more than walk the floor and shake hands, to the stupid rules pertaining to job classification, unions are a big reason why AMerican car makers are struggling. Hell, in my plant (Sterling Heights plant on Mound road for Ford) we had a guy making over 100k a year and he was a damn floor cleaner!

Best and Worst Performing Stocks Seven Months Into 2008 [view article]
I agree with helsi. The last seven months for RDN was looking pretty bad, but all it took was a little legislation to be passed for it to soar. This stock deserves to be on the other chart now. Who would have guessed an 80 cent stock would hit $5 in such a short time period?! Timing is everything. Reply

Coal and Steel Stocks Take A Hit [view article]
I just bought 1000 shares of CNX at $59.50-about 1/2 the share price of 5 weeks ago.
Think it will be a good long term (18 months-3 years) play.

    Anyone agree / disagree ?
