- Tuesday, June 5, 2012, 10:49 AM Proxy adviser Glass, Lewis recommends that AOL shareholders vote for one out of three board members nominated by activist investor Starboard, and it rejects AOL's claims of Starboard wanting to break AOL up as "at best, histrionic, and patently misrepresentative." - Sunday, June 3, 2012, 4:01 AM Proxy advisor ISS yesterday recommended that AOL shareholders vote for 2 out of 3 board candidates nominated by activist investor Starboard Value, which has criticized AOL's content investments. AOL is reportedly asking for $70M-$100M for the properties, and suggests the sale process could take 6 months to a year. AOL has issued a letter accusing Starboard of advocating a "short-sighted approach," that would hurt shareholder value, and of making "false and misleading statements" to gain support. The letter comes amidst rumors Arianna Huffington wants to buy back the Huffington Post from AOL - a move that would probably sit well with Starboard. Comment! [Tech]

- Monday, April 23, 2012, 12:14 PM Facebook (FB) has agreed to purchase a portion of the patents and patent applications Microsoft (MSFT) acquired from AOL for $550M in cash. Facebook will receive 650 of AOL's patents and applications through the deal, while Microsoft will hold onto 275, as well as a license to the ones it's selling.
