A123 Systems (AONE) is soaring 16.1%. With no major company news, the surge could be due to Fisker Automotive's disclosure that its hybrid electric-gasoline luxury Karma sedans generated revenue of over $100M in the first four months of the year. A123 supplies the battery packs for the Karma vehicles.

A123 Systems (AONE +12%), crushed over the last 12 months due to a litany of problems (I, II, III), is rallying post-earnings. Though A123's numbers badly missed estimates and the company reported cash burn of $73M, it also said it has fixed the battery defect that led to a massive recall, and that a federal grant with $120M in remaining proceeds has been extended by 2 years. A123 slashed its 2012 guidance last Friday.

The firm says AONE's outlook remains cloudy and that business would need to ramp substantially to justify its current share price.
