- Thursday, May 2, 5:34 PM ARM (ARMH +0.1%) largely missed out on today's rally after GPU core rival Imagination (IGNMF.PK) fell 25.7% in London thanks to a warning. Imagination expects its FY13 (ended in April) licensing revenue to fall 22% Y/Y to £27M due to delayed deal closings, something it blames on "structural and organisational changes" at licensees. FY14 licensing revenue (exc. MIPS) is expected to total £30m- £35m, also below expectations. The damage to ARM was likely limited due to the fact ARM's share gains might be partly responsible for the warning - ARM's Mali GPU core shipments rose 5x Y/Y in Q1, and 3 new licenses were signed (raising the total to 75). - Tuesday, April 23, 6:06 AM More on ARM Holdings (ARMH) Q1: adjusted pretax profit +44% to £89.4M vs consensus of £77.6M. 2.6B ARM-based chips shipped, +35%; mobile chips +25%, embedded +50%, Mali graphics processors surge fivefold. ARM "made an encouraging start to 2013" and it projects FY revenues in line with market expectations, which are £675.8M. Shares +5.9% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, On the Move, Tech]
- Tuesday, April 23, 3:20 AM ARM Holdings (ARMH): Q1 EPS of $0.17. Revenue of $263.9M (+26% Y/Y) beats by $13.19M. (PR) 12 Comments [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech]

Processor royalty revenue +21%, growth in outsourcing of new tech. Expects to continue to gain market share in long-term growth sector as its partners launch new chips. Forecasts Q1 revenues of $250M, and FY dollar revenues in line with analyst forecasts. (PR) Comment! [Tech, Earnings]

- Wednesday, January 30, 10:13 AM Freescale (FSL +17.4%) roars higher after easily beating Q4 estimates and providing Q1 guidance well above consensus. Sales of microcontrollers (strong uptake for ARM-based designs) and base station power amplifiers (lifted by China's 3G buildout) were healthy, offsetting weakness in network processor, analog/sensor, and automotive IC sales. The results appear a validation of new CEO Gregg Lowe's efforts to narrow Freescale's R&D focus and restructure. Pac Crest thinks margins could rise throughout 2013. (transcript) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Tuesday, October 23, 2012, 3:12 AM More on ARM's (ARMH) Q3: Processor royalty revenue +27%, predicts "a moderate sequential increase" in such income in Q4. Signs 29 processor licenses for a broad range of applications. Enters Q4 with record order backlog. Forecasts dollar revenue in line with with market expectations. Shares +2% in London. Comment! [Earnings, Tech]

- Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 5:48 PM Also mentioned during Intel's (INTC) call: The company joins others in stating Chinese demand has softened (particularly for notebooks). Enterprise PC demand has also slumped. Though server CPU ASPs were up 1% Y/Y, they fell 7% Q/Q thanks to a mix shift - cloud environments often use cheaper server CPUs than corporate data centers, making the server industry's growing dependence on the former a possible long-term issue. But Intel doesn't seem worried about ARM-based (ARMH) server CPUs, noting they still lack many mission-critical features. (more on INTC) Comment! [Tech, Earnings]
- Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 5:53 AM More on ARM (ARMH) Q2: Demand for ARM's chips outstrips the industry, allowing it to remain confident. While the the Q4 "royalty uptick" might not be "what we usually see," ARM says, "there is strong license momentum, which is why we are confirming the overall picture for the full year." The WSJ has the early and mainly positive analyst reaction. 2 Comments [Earnings, On the Move]

Ashraf Eassa: Bubbles can keep on inflating in this kind of macro environment, but that doesn't change the fact that it is indeed a bubble. -
neobliviscar: AE- Take page from the Whit Tilson NFLX Saga on this one. Being right very far from the right time = does not matter. Made WT look squeeky.

Eassa: A very basic concept but hard to actually do for many folks either long or short. -
Ashraf Eassa: It does indeed take guts, but more than that, it requires discipline to know when to cover.
