Midday top 10 losers: ARUN -27%. UNXL -23%. COSI -14%. AFOP -12%. MNGA -12%. FSGI -10%. YOKU -10%. ALIM -9%. EGLE -9%. GIG -9%. Comment! [On the Move] - Friday, May 17, 10:16 AM Aruba (ARUN -26.8%) is slammed with 9 downgrades after providing light guidance to go with its FQ3 results. Aruba is "likely dealing with a multi-quarter, if not structural, change in its competitive landscape and growth rate," writes Needham, cutting shares to Hold. Wells Fargo, downgrading to Market Perform, notes Cisco (CSCO - 27% Y/Y Wi-Fi growth in FQ3) is extending its efforts to bundle Wi-Fi hardware with other enterprise gear to Europe/Asia, and that Aruba plans to invest more to compete better. Along with the report, Aruba announced it's buying Meridian Apps, a developer of mapping/navigation software for hotels, subways, hospitals, etc. (transcript) Comment! [Tech, On the Move]

After-hours top losers: ARUN -13.7%. ADSK -5.2%. BRCD -4.9%. JWN -3.5%. EGLE -2.4%. Comment! [On the Move] - Thursday, May 16, 5:38 PM Aruba (ARUN) -16.2% AH after guiding on its FQ3 call for FQ4 revenue $148M-$150M and EPS of $0.10-$0.12, below a consensus of $157.1M and $0.17. Management admits it's seeing tougher competition from Cisco (CSCO), which is now bundling its Wi-Fi solutions with its routers and data center products - Cisco just reported 27% Y/Y growth for April quarter Wi-Fi sales. Aruba now -34% since its May 7 warning. Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Thursday, May 16, 4:06 PM Aruba Networks (ARUN): FQ3 EPS of $0.11 misses by $0.01. Revenue of $147.1M misses by $7.49M. Shares -2.3% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, Tech, On the Move]

- Wednesday, May 15, 5:32 PM More from Cisco's (CSCO) call: Orders +4% Y/Y, better than FQ2's flat growth. Americas +7% (+2% in FQ2) with U.S. public sector +5% after many quarters of weakness. EMEA flat, better than FQ2's -6%. Asia-Pac/Japan +1%, down from +3% due to tough comps and China issues. "Emerging countries" +13%, aided by India's +29%. Book-to-bill around 1. Switch revenue -2% Y/Y as campus weakness (share loss?) offsets data center/10G strength. Routers flat. Wi-Fi +27% in spite of warnings from ARUN and RKUS; carrier Wi-Fi +100%. Data center +77% as UCS servers keep gaining share. Security -4%. The carrier capex environment is still soft, but Cisco claims share gains. Product mix impacted gross margin guidance. (previous) Comment! [Tech, Earnings]
- Tuesday, May 7, 7:02 PM Though Ruckus (RKUS -26.2%) claims its Q1 miss and soft guidance aren't tied to competition, "it is difficult to reconcile the implied disparity between Ruckus’ growth and that of the overall [carrier] Wi-Fi market," says Lazard, discussing its downgrade to Neutral. However, other companies, such as F5 and Fortinet, have also reported soft carrier demand for discretionary projects. Meanwhile, Raymond James thinks Ruckus and Aruba's (ARUN -22.8% - previous) warnings, along with Motorola Solutions' (MSI) guidance, suggests enterprise Wi-Fi growth is slowing. Market leader Cisco (CSCO -2%), whose Wi-Fi unit posted 27% Y/Y growth last quarter, reports on May 15. 2 Comments [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]

Midday top 10 gainers: FSGI +28%. ARCI +27%. ININ +18%. MELI +18%. NLS +18%. PRTS +18%. REED +16%. PODD +14%. LAS +12%. MKTG +12%.
Midday top 10 losers: DCO -27%. RKUS -25%. GNK -24%. CUTR -23%. ARUN -22%. SNTA -15%. AMRI -12%. PIKE -12%. TA -12%. PTRY -11%. Comment! [On the Move] - Tuesday, May 7, 9:33 AM Aruba Networks (ARUN -19.6%) dives after warning it expects FQ3 (April quarter) revenue of $144M-$147M and EPS of $0.11-$0.12, well below a consensus of $160.5M and $0.20. The enterprise/carrier Wi-Fi hardware maker says it "saw a push out in customer orders across the Americas, Europe and Asia," something it mostly blames on macro. The warning comes as rival Ruckus (RKUS -21.1%) gets crushed due to a Q1 miss and light Q2 guidance, and is hit with a downgrade to Neutral from Lazard. Aruba depends more on enterprise sales than Ruckus; both face strong competition from Cisco (CSCO -1.1%), which seems to be lower in sympathy. 1 Comment [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]

Premarket gainers: SNTS +11%. ALU +11%. CVLT +8%. HIMX +7%. NSM +7%. FOSL +6%. DTV +6%.
Losers: RKUS -24%. ARUN -17%. AKRX -7%. PAL -6%. 1 Comment [On the Move] - Monday, May 6, 4:33 PM Ruckus (RKUS) blames its Q1 miss on "delayed deployments by several service provider customers in the Americas, as well as challenging market conditions in China;" company insists competition isn't a factor. Q2 guidance is for revenue of $61M-$64M and EPS of $0.03-$0.04, largely below a consensus of $67.1M and $0.04. Gross margin rose 170 bps Q/Q and 390 bps Y/Y to 67.9%, a big reason the EPS miss wasn't as bad as the revenue miss. Opex +62% Y/Y, well above rev. growth of 27%. RKUS -17.9% AH. ARUN -2.8% in sympathy. CC at 5PM ET (webcast). (PR) Comment! [Tech, Earnings, On the Move]
- Monday, April 15, 5:42 PM Netgear (NTGR) -3.8% AH after resuming trading in the wake of its Q1 warning; shares are now about $1 above their 52-week low of $28.68. A couple of peers are down slightly in AH trading: FFIV -0.7%. ARUN -0.9%. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Thursday, April 4, 9:52 AM Aruba Networks (ARUN -1.5%) slides on a downgrade to Neutral from UBS. The enterprise Wi-Fi hardware maker remains a favorite of shorts, with 21.7% of the float shorted as of March 15. Shares jumped in February following strong FQ2 results and FQ3 guidance. Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
